Promotions at UKTA Black Belt Grading
Grandmaster Rhee Ki Ha promoted ten members of RTA Didcot
at the UKTA Black Belt Grading in Glasgow over the weekend of 3rd, 4th and 5th
September 2010. This is the largest contingent we have had at one grading and we
can celebrate two Dan promotions plus eight new 1st Dans. Well done to;
Kirsty Miller 3 Dan (sam Dan), Don Ward 2 Dan (i Dan), Aaron Wright 1 Dan (il
Dan), James Pearce 1 Dan, Geno Naughton 1 Dan, Liam Miller 1 Dan, Louis Figon 1
Dan, Liam Harman-Major 1 Dan, Jamie Allen 1 Dan and Ryan Morrow 1 Dan.
ITF Veteran World Championships - Minsk, Belarus
Once again there was great success for RTA Didcot at this
event after Steve Luker IV Dan picked up individual Gold medals in Sparring and
IV Dan Pattern, plus team medals as England put in a strong performance. Senior
Master Gary Miller was again selected to be centre referee for the sparring
finals. A more

RTA Didcot Celebrates 25 Years with Grandmaster Rhee
For only the second time in Oxfordshire in the last 5
years GM Rhee Ki Ha conducted a seminar and grading for coloured belt students
as part of the 25th Anniversary celebrations of RTA Didcot over the weekend of
5th & 6th June 2010.

Saturday comprised of a round of golf followed by a chinese meal attended by
local black belts and instructors. On Sunday more than 160 students ranging from
10th Kup to VIII Dan (Including Snr. Master Orello Ellis from Oxford) took part
in the seminar. During the morning Master Gary Miller was presented by several
gifts to mark the occasion, including commemorative plaques from RTA Didcot
students and GM Rhee.

It was during these presentations that GM Rhee announced the promotion to Senior
Master VIII Dan for Master Gary Miller.
UKTA Welsh Open Championships 2010
UWIC (Cardiff University) was the venue for the UKTA 2010
Welsh Open Championships on Sunday 16th May. 286 competitors from over 48 schools took part.
After a mixed day of results our medallists were;
Alison Fisher won Gold in Sparring and Power plus Bronze in Patterns
Paris Carbonari won Gold in Patterns and Sparring
Craig Irwin won Gold in Sparring and Special Technique
Jamie Buchanan won Gold in Special Technique and Silver in Patterns & Sparring
Daniel Geary-Andrews won Gold in Sparring
Ricky De Winton won Silver in Patterns and Bronze in Sparring
Pippa Pearce won Silver in Sparring and Bronze in Patterns
Kirsty Miller won Silver in Sparring & Bronze in Pattern
Don Ward won Silver in Power
Louise Morrow won Silver in Sparring
Liam Miller won Silver in Special Technique
Ryan Morrow won Silver in Special Technique
Thomas Hughes-Williams won Silver in Sparring

UKTA Scottish Open Championships 2010
UKTA held its 2010 Scottish Open Championships in Glasgow
on Saturday 16th March.
Almost 350 competitors from over 50 schools took part. Our medallists were;
Carl Davis took the Overall Trophy with gold in 3rd Dan patterns and sparring
Paris Carbonari took the Junior Overall Trophy following gold in pattern,
sparring and special technique
Steve Luker won gold in 4th/6th Dan patterns & bronze in Veteran sparring
Don Ward won bronze in patterns, silver in sparring and gold in power
Allie Fisher won silver in pattern and gold in sparring
Jamie Buchanan won silver in sparring
Thomas Hughes Williams won bonze in patterns and gold in sparring
European Championships - Italy 2010
The EITF European Championships took place in Barletta,
Italy from 10th - 14th March 2010. Miller TKD had four members representing
England. Oxford University member Valentina Iotchkova took Gold in 2nd Dan
Pattern (To follow her 1st Dan Gold in 2008), Richard De Winton won
Silvers in Team Power and Team Special Technique, plus Bronzes in Team Pattern
and Individual Sparring -78kg.
Kirsty Miller won Bronze in Team Power after completing the tie breaker side
kick for England.


Black Belt Grading March 2010
Congratulations are extended to Phillippa "Pippa" Pearce
on acheiving promotion to black belt 1st Dan from Grandmaster Rhee Ki Ha at the
UKTA Black Belt Grading Exams in Glasgow from March 5th - 7th

RTA Didcot Awards 2009
RTA Didcot awards were presented recently. Congratulations
to the following members;
Student of the Year (Dave Kimber Award) - Don Ward
Junior Student of the Year - Thomas Hughes-Williams
Student's Student of the Year - Pippa Pearce

Umpire Course - Amsterdam
The North West Region of EITF hosted the first
Umpire Course of 2010 from January 15th - 17th at the A4 Schipol Hotel in
Amsterdam, Netherlands. 25 Regional umpires from England, Wales, Ireland,
Netherlands, Finland, Greenland, Slovenia and Greece took part in this course.
After practicing all 24 Tuls the course was completed with a breakdown of all of
the categories / rules to be used at the forthcoming European
Championships in Barletta, Italy. New Umpires then took the written exam for ITF
'B' qualification.

Seminar & Grading Dates 2010
Once again our area seminars & gradings will be held at
the Castle Leisure Centre, St. Georges Rd, Wallingford, Oxon.
Sunday 28th February 2010.
Sunday 6th June 2010. It is provisionally agreed that GM Rhee Ki Ha will conduct
this event in Didcot to celebrate the Silver Jubilee (25 Years) of RTA Didcot.
Sunday 12th September 2010. Sunday 5th December 2010.
UKTA Awards Dinner & Dance
The UKTA AGM & Awards Dinner and Dance took place at the
Marriott Hotel, Manchester. Following a successful AGM there was an opportunity
for all members to relax and enjoy themselves. During this event Master Gary
Miller was presented with Overall School Winner trophies for the 2009 English
and Welsh Open Championships by GM Rhee Ki Ha.
