RTA Didcot Awards and Dinner 2011
On 19th December 34 members of Miller TKD Schools gathered
for the end of year dinner and presentation of awards at the Aroma Grill
Restaurant in Didcot. Fantastic food was enjoyed (Along witrh a few alchohol
free drinks) before SM Miller made the following presentations;
David Kimber Award (Student of the Year) - Paris Carbonari
Miller Cup (Students Student of the Year) - Andrew Haynes
Children Class Student of the Year - Anna Durrance

UK Open 2011
The 2011 UK Open took place at Spectrum, Guildford on Saturday 12th
November, featuring 423 competitors from 85 schools of England, Scotland, Wales,
Ireland, Belgium, India and Slovenia. A full day of tough competition was very
well managed by the Masters, Umpires and Tournament Committee. It was a great
opportunity for friends to reunite from within the UK and Europe, and special
thanks are extended to Master Emin Durakovic and Mr Simon Jan of Slovenia, plus
Mr Pascal Raeijmaekers of Belgium for bringing their very good competitors to
England. RTA Didcot finished in 2nd place overall & medals were won by;
GOLD : Alison Fisher (2) and Overall Veteran Champion, Paris Carbonari, Spencer
Lawley, Faye Miller, Liam Miller, Judith Kelly, Melissa Berenger.
SILVER: Louis Figon, Louise Morrow, Jamie Allen, Craig Irwin, Judith Kelly.
BRONZE: irsty Miller, Jamie Buchanan (2), Anna Durrance, Melissa Aird, Liam
Miller, Jamie Allen.

International Training Course with GM Kim Ung Chol
In the beautiful winter sunshine of southern France during
November SM Taylor, SM Miller, Mr Paul Harris, Mr Paul Knighton and Miss
Valentina Iotchkova attended the International Instructor Course in Grenoble,
conducted by GM Kim Ung Chol, Chairman of ITF Tournament Committee and Chief
Instructor to ITF Bulgaria.
The course covered various aspects of Tul (Pattern),
Matsoki (Sparring) and Ho Sin Sul (Self Defence Technique) during the six hours
of training across each of the three days. As is normal with GM Kim all classes
are started with an extensive stretching regime – which felt great at the time
but the legs certainly knew it the next day. On the final day a grading exam
took place and Valentina Iotchkova was promoted to III Dan (Sam Dan) by GM Kim.

UKTA Home International Championships 2011
Scotland were victorious for only the second time in the
history of the UKTA Home International, winning the coveted Rhee Ki Ha Cup
outright after a dramatic final breaking session at the Effingham Copthorne
Hotel near Crawley on saturday 29th October.

UKTA National Umpire Course - England
RTA Didcot played host once again for the
second UKTA National Umpire Course of 2011. Senior Master Miller conducted the course in his capacity of Chief Umpire. Congratulations to all those who attended and successfully passed their exam.

17th ITF World Championships - North Korea
Congratulations to Mr. Johnnie Chan V Dan and Miss
Valentina Iotchkova II Dan on representing England at the 17th ITF World Adult
Championships in Pyongyang, North Korea. Valentina capped the occassion by
winning Bronze in the Individual Power category.
UKTA Welsh Open Championships
292 competitors from 58 schools of Wales, England, Scotland and the Republic of
Ireland attended UWIC (University of Wales In Cardiff) for the Welsh Open on
25th September 2011. UKGT Burbage was the Overall School winner. RTA Didcot came
5th with only 13 competitors. Judith Kelly won the Kup Individual Overall
Champion Trophy.
September Black Belt Grading - England
Grandmaster Rhee Ki Ha took charge of the UKTA
International Course and Black Belt Grading in Reading, Berkshire from 2nd-4th
September. Over 120 Masters, Instructors and students participated in the event.
With SM Miller invited to assist proceedings by GM Rhee it was an opportunity
for the RTA Didcot members to relax and feel comfortable. Congratulations to
Steve Luker V Dan, And Haynes III Dan, Jamie Buchanan I Dan and Paris Carbonari
I Dan on their successful promotions.

UKTA National Umpire Course - Scotland
UKTA held its Scotland Umpire Course at Rana Singh's new
Glasgow Fitness Centre on Sunday 31st July. SM Gary Miller conducted the day,
complete with written exam to finish. Results can be found on www.ukta.com.
GM Rhee Ki Ha Seminar - Abingdon
UKTA held its first seminar of the year aimed specifically
at IVth Dan holders and above on Saturday 9th April 2011 at The Park Club,
Milton, Nr. Abingdon in Oxfordshire. Conducted by Grandmaster Rhee Ki Ha the day
consisted of pattern training from Yon Gae to Tong Il, a session for examiners,
a brain storming session, plus two hours dedicated to the Masters in attendance.

English Open Championships 2011
410 competitors, 52 Umpires and 6 Masters from 82 schools
attended the 2011 UKTA English Open Championships at Guildford Spectrum in
Surrey on Saturday 19th March.

Change of Training Day
Tuesday training at Willowbrook Leisure Centre in Didcot
has stopped. We now train every Monday at Didcot Leisure Centre, Mereland Road,
Didcot from 7 - 9pm.
Promotions at 2011 UKTA Black Belt Grading
Grandmaster Rhee Ki Ha promoted three members of RTA Didcot
at the UKTA Black Belt Grading in Glasgow over the weekend of 4th 5th and 6th
March 2011. Carl Davis promoted to 4th Dan (The 7th member to achieve his
level). Andy Strong and Russell Brady became our latest 1st Dans.
EITF European Championships in Tallinn, Estonia
Senior Master Miller, Ricky De Winton, Carl Davis,
Valentina Iotchkova, Jamie Allen and Ryan Morrow took part in the XXVI Adult,
XVII Junior, III Veteran and I Child European Championships in the icy
conditions of Tallinn, Estonia.
England's Male Senior Team again won Gold in Power and Bronze in Pattern, while
losing to winners Bulgaria in Team Sparring.

Promotions at 2010 UKTA Black Belt Grading
Grandmaster Rhee Ki Ha promoted ten members of RTA Didcot
at the UKTA Black Belt Grading in Glasgow over the weekend of 3rd, 4th and 5th
September 2010. This is the largest contingent we have had at one grading and we
can celebrate two Dan promotions plus eight new 1st Dans. Well done to;
Kirsty Miller 3 Dan (sam Dan), Don Ward 2 Dan (i Dan), Aaron Wright 1 Dan (il
Dan), James Pearce 1 Dan, Geno Naughton 1 Dan, Liam Miller 1 Dan, Louis Figon 1
Dan, Liam Harman-Major 1 Dan, Jamie Allen 1 Dan and Ryan Morrow 1 Dan.

ITF Veteran World Championships - Minsk, Belarus
Once again there was great success for RTA Didcot at this
event after Steve Luker IV Dan picked up individual Gold medals in Sparring and
IV Dan Pattern, plus team medals as England put in a strong performance. Senior
Master Gary Miller was again selected to be centre referee for the sparring
finals. A more

RTA Didcot Celebrates 25 Years with Grandmaster Rhee
For only the second time in Oxfordshire in the last 5
years GM Rhee Ki Ha conducted a seminar and grading for coloured belt students
as part of the 25th Anniversary celebrations of RTA Didcot over the weekend of
5th & 6th June 2010.

Saturday comprised of a round of golf followed by a chinese meal attended by
local black belts and instructors. On Sunday more than 160 students ranging from
10th Kup to VIII Dan (Including Snr. Master Orello Ellis from Oxford) took part
in the seminar. During the morning Master Gary Miller was presented by several
gifts to mark the occasion, including commemorative plaques from RTA Didcot
students and GM Rhee.

It was during these presentations that GM Rhee announced the promotion to Senior
Master VIII Dan for Master Gary Miller.
UKTA Welsh Open Championships 2010
UWIC (Cardiff University) was the venue for the UKTA 2010
Welsh Open Championships on Sunday 16th May. 286 competitors from over 48 schools took part.
After a mixed day of results our medallists were;
Alison Fisher won Gold in Sparring and Power plus Bronze in Patterns
Paris Carbonari won Gold in Patterns and Sparring
Craig Irwin won Gold in Sparring and Special Technique
Jamie Buchanan won Gold in Special Technique and Silver in Patterns & Sparring

UKTA Scottish Open Championships 2010
UKTA held its 2010 Scottish Open Championships in Glasgow
on Saturday 16th March.
Almost 350 competitors from over 50 schools took part. Our medallists were;
Carl Davis took the Overall Trophy with gold in 3rd Dan patterns and sparring
Paris Carbonari took the Junior Overall Trophy following gold in pattern,
sparring and special technique
Steve Luker won gold in 4th/6th Dan patterns & bronze in Veteran sparring
Don Ward won bronze in patterns, silver in sparring and gold in power
Allie Fisher won silver in pattern and gold in sparring
Jamie Buchanan won silver in sparring
Thomas Hughes Williams won bonze in patterns and gold in sparring
European Championships - Italy 2010
The EITF European Championships took place in Barletta,
Italy from 10th - 14th March 2010. Miller TKD had four members representing
England. Oxford University member Valentina Iotchkova took Gold in 2nd Dan
Pattern (To follow her 1st Dan Gold in 2008), Richard De Winton won
Silvers in Team Power and Team Special Technique, plus Bronzes in Team Pattern
and Individual Sparring -78kg.
Kirsty Miller won Bronze in Team Power after completing the tie breaker side
kick for England.


Black Belt Grading March 2010
Congratulations are extended to Phillippa "Pippa" Pearce
on acheiving promotion to black belt 1st Dan from Grandmaster Rhee Ki Ha at the
UKTA Black Belt Grading Exams in Glasgow from March 5th - 7th

RTA Didcot Awards 2009
RTA Didcot awards were presented recently. Congratulations
to the following members;

Umpire Course - Amsterdam
The North West Region of EITF hosted the first
Umpire Course of 2010 from January 15th - 17th at the A4 Schipol Hotel in
Amsterdam, Netherlands. 25 Regional umpires from England, Wales, Ireland,
Netherlands, Finland, Greenland, Slovenia and Greece took part in this course.
After practicing all 24 Tuls the course was completed with a breakdown of all of
the categories / rules to be used at the forthcoming European
Championships in Barletta, Italy. New Umpires then took the written exam for ITF
'B' qualification.

Seminar & Grading Dates 2010
Once again our area seminars & gradings will be held at
the Castle Leisure Centre, St. Georges Rd, Wallingford, Oxon.
Sunday 28th February 2010.
Sunday 6th June 2010. It is provisionally agreed that GM Rhee Ki Ha will conduct
this event in Didcot to celebrate the Silver Jubilee (25 Years) of RTA Didcot.
Sunday 12th September 2010. Sunday 5th December 2010.
UKTA Awards Dinner & Dance
The UKTA AGM & Awards Dinner and Dance took place at the
Marriott Hotel, Manchester. Following a successful AGM there was an opportunity
for all members to relax and enjoy themselves. During this event Master Gary
Miller was presented with Overall School Winner trophies for the 2009 English
and Welsh Open Championships by GM Rhee Ki Ha.

Miller TKD would like to take this opportunity to wish
everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. 2009 has been a remarkably
successful year for our competitors on the ITF International and National
tournament circuit.
